Zip line

Yesterday was a blast because my family and I went zip lining at Aerial Trek! My mom took pictures and my dad, brother and I zip lined through the jungle. This was my second time zip lining in my whole life. It was kind of scary and nerve wracking at the same time. We were gone for about 45 minutes. We also had to wear a lot of gear. We had to wear a harness, helmet and special gloves.  Our right hand had to have a special pad on it to help us brake on the wire. Our left hand was just a normal glove.

They told us some instructions like our right hand had to be as far away from us as possible so we could not spin or turn while zip lining. Our left hand had to be on the gear, right in front of us, down below our stomach. We went on 8 lines. It was awesome! If we went too fast, we could use our right hand to brake on the wire. It's a great upper body work out.  Your right arm is over you and farther away and your left hand isn't really doing anything and you have to raise your feet up like you're sitting back in a reclining chair. So, after your all worn out.

There were 2 long big zip lines where you could not brake. So, that was fun to do! When you're zipping through the jungle, it feels like your flying, and you can look down and you're so far off the ground! The workers were really funny and super nice and so good with kids. My mom didn't do it because she doesn't do heights. She said that I am a dare devil when it comes to out door things. My brother, dad, mom and I all had fun. Yesterday was a huge blast of fun!

Snorkeling

Today was the first Saturday in Barbados. We went snorkeling off the coast. We got to go on a pirate ship and live like a pirate. The first thing we did was get on the ship and we went out to sea. The first stop was an abandoned sunken ship. We got to go out and explore everything. We got to snorkel around it.  That was pretty cool! Then we got back on the ship and ate lunch while we were moving. That was difficult but we made it anyway.

Then soon enough we reached the turtles. It was so amazing! We got to get in the water with the turtles, pet them and feed them. I got to pet its shell and one of the turtles gave me a high five and I also got to pet its head. There were 3 turtles, 2 big ones and 1 little one. Then at the same spot we got to walk the plan.  That was very fun. Then we got swing off the ship on ropes and the whole time they played really loud music.

Then it was a long ship ride back with really loud music.  They played YMCA and everybody was up dancing.  When we got back we got a taxi and came back to the hotel. My mom and I were still feeling the rocking boat although we weren't even on the boat any more. It was a very fun day here in Barbados.

Oh, a funny thing happened the other night .  My family and I were on our way back to the hotel from dinner and, you know how you see a squirrel crossing the road, well instead we saw a crab crossing the road!  He was just minding his own business taking his time crossing the road!  I miss you guys.  I can't wait to see you next year or maybe sooner.  _

Day One

My first day was awesome. I woke up in a chair and I forgot I was in a hotel in Barbados. I looked out the window and saw clear water with different shades of blue. It was so beautiful. We went to breakfast, came back to the room, and my brother and I decided to take a walk around and explore the hotel. When we walked past the pool, which was huge, we saw a big chess board with big game pieces. We kept on walking and found the beach and we started walking on the beach.  We walked up to the water and felt it and it was surprisingly warm.  We decided to go back to the room and change into our swimsuits.  On the way back, I looked down and saw a crab claw.  It was cool.  We went back down to the beach, got in the water right away, and the water was really warm and clear and blue.

Then my dad taught me how to body surf.  I had to hold on to my dad every time a wave came because I was so small compared to the waves and would get trampled. There was this one time I got trampled, fell on a rock and my dad came walking over and picked me up and walked toward the shore.  We all took a small break and went back; my mom even came this time.  She didn't go that far out but still got in. Then after a little while we decided to go to the pool and chill out.  My mom was reading in the shade, my dad, brother a I went swimming and made each other laugh. Then we got out and went to the Jacuzzi.   Afterwards, my dad and brother played chess on the big game board with all the big pieces that were 2 feet tall.  I was getting a tan and mom was reading.

Later we went out to eat.  In this country they do things a little differently.  They drive on the opposite side of the road and the steering wheel is on the right side of the car.  There are only 2 stop lights on the whole island and barely any stop signs, so it's scary and weird whenever we get in the car. Next, my dad took us sight seeing.  There are lots of people walking and shops on the side of the road.  And, just randomly, there are cows and chickens on the side of the road.

We also got to pull over and see the sun go down. Because we're close to the equator, the sun goes down really fast and it gets dark at around 6:30 at night.  After we came back and chilled, my mom made this blog for me and also my dad said we get to do some fun things while we're here.  Things here are expensive compared to Louisville.  You pay in Barbadian dollars.  It is worth half as much as a US dollar.  So if the price for a soda says $8 BBD, that means it is about $4 US.  And just in case you're wondering where Barbados is and what it is... It is in the West Indies and lies 62 miles east of the Caribbean Sea in the Atlantic ocean. Trust me I was really confused and lost on what Barbados is and where it is. It all seems like a dream just being here and what I am really doing. I will keep you guys updated on everything.
